Day 1: Materuni Waterfall & Coffee Tour

Your day begins with an early pickup from your hotel in Arusha around 7:00 a.m. for the scenic drive toward Moshi and the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival in Materuni Village, you’ll be welcomed by a local guide who will lead you through a traditional coffee-making experience. From picking ripe coffee beans to roasting, grinding, and brewing them over an open fire, you’ll learn every step of the process—and, of course, enjoy a freshly brewed cup of Chagga coffee.

After the coffee tour, start your guided hike to Materuni Waterfall. The trail winds through lush farmland and forest, offering views of banana and avocado trees along the way. The hike takes about 30–45 minutes each way, depending on pace and water levels. When you reach the waterfall, you’ll be rewarded with the sight of its powerful cascade and have time to relax, take photos, or swim in the cool natural pool at its base.

You’ll enjoy a packed or local lunch near the waterfall before hiking back to the village. Afterward, begin your return drive to Arusha, arriving by late afternoon (around 5:00 p.m.)—filled with fresh air, scenic memories, and a deeper connection to Tanzanian culture.
